Presented as part of the Sydney Festival, Vigil is a powerful and contemplative work of film and performance celebrating the handover of Goat Island (Mei Mel) located in Sydney Harbour back to its traditional owners celebrating the reawakening of the spirit of Me-Mel. Jennifer Irwin’s costume designs are central to the work’s atmosphere, shaping a visual language that is both intimate and ceremonial.
